Temperate Deciduous Forest

Animals

mountain lion

The mountain lion is an animal that lives inside Temperate Forests. Interestingly mountain lions change the type of camouflage they have as they grow up. When they are younger their spots help protect them against predators if they are on the ground. As they grow older the spots disappear and this helps them camouflage to hunt prey.

Douglas Squirrel

The douglas squirrel is an animal that lives exclusively on the west coast. They have good hearing and eyesight which helps them survive in the temperate forest. This is because their eyesight and hearing can help them spot predators in the environment.

raven

Ravens are a common bird that can live within the temperate forest. They have a lot of adaptations to survive in different climates. In these forests their metabolism allows them to stay warm even in the cold of the winter. Along with that they also have great hearing to help them detect predators and high intelligence which helps them in general.
